YOUTH SERVICES - EXPLORER POST #3507

Griffin-Spalding Explorer Post 3705

The Griffin Police Department and Spalding County Sheriff's Office Explorer Post 3507 (Named in honor of Griffin Police Officer Kevin Jordan, Radio# 3507 EOW: 05/31/2014) is a joint post between the two agencies. The Explorer Post is for boys and girls between the ages of 14 and 20 who have expressed an interest in law enforcement as a career. The Spalding County Sheriff's Office has actually hired several employees that were involved with the Explorer program in the past. The post trains every week to prepare for competitions. The post travels to several competitions throughout the year competing against other law enforcement agency posts. We travel as far as Gatlinburg, Tennessee, to compete in national competition against explorer post from across the United States. At the last nationals, our Explorers finished in the top ten in the nation. They have finished third at state in the active shooter competition and second place in felony traffic stops at the Metro Atlanta Championship for Explorers (M.A.C.E.) competition.
