UNIFORM PATROL DIVISION - K-9

    UPD maintains the department K-9 Teams. Each shift in Uniform Patrol is assigned a K-9 Handler and K-9. Each K-9 has been trained for dual purposes, criminal apprehension and narcotics detection. The K-9 Handlers are with their partners 24 hours a day and live together at the handler's home. The teams train together with the K-9 Handler assigned to the CAGE Unit every week to maintain skill sets for both apprehension and narcotics work. Each K-9 team is certified nationally for narcotics detection and have been certified for apprehension work. K-9 Units can also be utilized for search and rescue work involving missing persons.
