ABOUT MAJOR JOHN CORLEY

Major John Corley began his law enforcement career in 1992, working for the Spalding County Sheriff's Office as a Detention Officer from 1992 to 1994. In early 1995, he transferred from the Detention Division to the Uniform Patrol Division, where he quickly rose to the rank of Sergeant on a shift. In 2007, he was given the opportunity to transfer to the Narcotics Special Operations Division, where he served as Sergeant. During his tenure with the Narcotics Unit from 2007 to 2017, Major Corley, along with other Spalding County Drug Agents, introduced and began monitoring suspected drug and gang members' cell phones at a local level, a practice commonly known as phone tapping. This initiative led to several arrests and the seizure of drugs and assets. In 2017, he transferred back to the Uniform Patrol Division as a Lieutenant and currently holds the position of Major. Before beginning his career with the Spalding County Sheriff's Office, Major Corley served in the United States Marine Corps and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.
