To promote transparency and build public confidence and trust, the Office of Professional Standards was formed in 2017. This unit answers solely to the Sheriff, tracks and maintains records on use of force, pursuits, and conducts inquiries and internal investigations on complaints filed against employees. This type of oversight provides citizens and employees with an avenue to voice their complaints and concerns. Addressing issues in a fair, just, and timely manner for all parties involved builds trust while ensuring professionalism, adherence to policy and law.
